As a wellness entrepreneur, do you know why someone might choose to do business with you, over someone else?
Why would someone choose your retreat over someone else’s retreat? Why would someone choose you as their coach instead of another coach who has the exact same niche?
Knowing what makes you stand out from your competitors is key in signing up more clients and making more money in your business.
This is something I call your x-factor.
What makes you unique.
What makes your business special?
What makes you stand out from your competitors?
It comes down to your x-factor.
This is really important to understand about yourself and your business because knowing what sets you apart will clarify, simplify and streamline your marketing efforts.
Place yourself in the shoes of your client… why do they want to work with you instead of going to someone else? What value do you offer that no one else does?
The 4th episode of my podcast is...
As entrepreneurs we are providing a product or a service that helps people and serves them in a meaningful way. We fill in a gap where our audience or our clients have a specific need.
And as we build our businesses we generate revenue. That’s the goal right?!
If your business isn’t making money, it’s a hobby.
But let's talk about wealth. Wealth is not something that you go out and get. Wealth is something that you create... and you create it by first creating VALUE.
Many of us were raised to think that there’s this "pie" that represents all the money and wealth in the world... and if some people have a big portion of that pie, then it means there’s not enough to go around for the rest of us.
I've heard people say, "Billionaires shouldn’t be billionaires because they should give away most of their wealth to others that need it".
Well, there ARE billionaires that...
Recently I've been obsessed with the differences between confidence and self-confidence.
With confidence you look to your past experiences for evidence that you can do something and do it well.
I feel very confident brushing my teeth, pouring a glass of water, driving a car or riding a horse because I have done those things many times before. I have a lot of evidence that supports feeling confident in those areas.
Self-confidence on the other hand is INTERNAL. It’s based on the belief you have about yourself. Self-confidence is an emotion that you generate without any history to back it up or external evidence.
So why does this matter?
Because having a strong belief about yourself and your abilities without evidence to back it up will get you closer to achieving your goals. It will propel you forward as you build your business and continue to...
Many people are chasing success. You want a successful business... a successful relationship... to be a successful mom... have a successful life!
We all have our own ideas of what success looks like.
Some people may think that having a successful relationship should look a certain way, or be for a certain length of time, or there has to be a certain level of commitment.
Some people may think that their business will be a "success" when they start making X amount of money... or when they're featured in Forbes... or when they are walking in the airport and see some random person wearing one of their products.
When I was building BE Outfitter - the backpack company that my partners and I sold last year - one of my business partners used to say, "the day I see some random person walking through the airport with one of our packs, that will be a symbol of success for me".
Here's the thing (and this is great news) YOU are the only person who can define success for yourself... YOU are the...

We can’t talk about entrepreneurship without bringing up that four letter word FAIL!
If you’re reading this and you’re an entrepreneur, then I’m going to assume that you know that failure is a good thing.
I’ll assume you know putting yourself out there as a business owner, making mistakes, and learning from them is how we grow as individuals and as entrepreneurs… and it’s also how we grow our businesses.
So I’m not going to share WHY failure is necessary because you already know that. I’m going to talk about failing on purpose.
I learned about the failure file from Ramit Sethi who is the author of I Will Teach You To Be Rich and the book Your Move: The Underdog's Guide to Building Your Business.
Here’s the deal (and any successful entrepreneur will tell you this), if you want to be more successful then you need to double, triple, or quadruple the amount of failures...
Running your own business isn’t for everyone – that’s why not many people do it. So what makes entrepreneurs different from anyone else in business?
I’ve been building businesses for over 20 years, and now that I've become a success coach for female entrepreneurs - I've noticed there are some interesting personality traits that entrepreneurs share, and some similarities in our upbringings I find fascinating.
Let me preface this by saying I haven’t done any formal research into this. These are simply my own observations being an entrepreneur for as long as I have been, being around other entrepreneurs, and coaching them.
All of the successful entrepreneurs I work with or know had parents who separated when they were young, or experienced significant dysfunction or trauma as a child.
Then we grow up and have something to prove.
We know how to deal with uncertainty...
A couple of weeks ago I watched a great training session with a powerhouse Master Coach who was coaching other coaches and female entrepreneurs.
This Master Coach makes approximately 18 million dollars a year coaching women on weight loss, and she was speaking with this young woman who is also a coach. This young woman was feeling incredibly frustrated and defeated because her business wasn’t taking off.
At one point during the conversation the young woman said in frustration, “why isn’t all the work I’ve been putting into this business working!?”
And the Master Coach took a moment, and said to her very calmly “Because you haven’t been doing it long enough yet, you need to keep going”
Well that just upset this young woman further, and she said, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME, I’VE BEEN DOING IT FOR FOUR YEARS!!"
And the Master Coach said “For 9 years it cost me more to run my business, than what I got out of it. I went from...
Self-Care has always been a popular a buzz word. When we think of self-care, we tend to think about getting a massage, or spending the afternoon with a friend to get a manicure, or taking a bubble bath, or going to a yoga class.
Pre-covid we incorporated self-care into our busy lives when we could. We knew it was important and felt proud of ourselves when we actually followed through with making it a priority.
At the very beginning of the pandemic and into the summer of 2020, my husband and I were focused on exercising, eating healthy, meditating, and doing whatever we could to take care of our health and wellbeing.
Our stress levels were incredibly high so keeping our health in check was important. I was trying to keep my businesses alive, we were worried and unsure about our daughter’s school situation, at one point during the summer we were dealing with evening curfews in New York (which was crazy!). Then we were pretty sure my husband got Covid… and the list...
How to control eating habits? What are the thoughts that eliminate desire? How do you become indifferent to food and wine?
Imagine being head over heels in love with someone only to find out they are a serial killer, torture puppies for fun, and are a horrible human being. That desire is gone!
Take a moment to visualize a delicious brownie (or some other food you have a HIGH desire for) and conjure up the feelings of wanting it sooooo badly. Now visualize it being full of maggots and it has cockroaches crawling all over it. Instantly that desire is gone.
Wanting a glass of wine is not a fact. Wanting is a choice. The desire for certain foods is a choice, but our brains are powerful so we trick ourselves into thinking and feeling that we want that cupcake… that we NEED it.
What do you want to create for yourself? Make a million dollars? Stop drinking? Stop eating food that...
